local and national cultures to create a growing global transnational culture.
Translation companies offer free automatic
translation tools as a complementary service for their clients. Furthermore,
both services are used for different purposes; therefore, automatic translation
doesn’t compete with the translation company, but rather adds value.
As part ofISO 3166, ISO 3166-1 provides codes corresponding to country names and administrative entities. Sub-standards derived from ISO 3166-1:
* ISO 3166-1 numeric: three-digit system, similar to the one defined by the UN Statistics Division.
* ISO 3166-1 alpha-3: three-letter code system.
* ISO 3166-1 alpha-2: two-letter code system. It has several applications. The most important one is related to Internet domains of superior geographical level.
