Writers and translators get together for an intensive week of workshops, seminars and reading sessions. This course will include a first-time translation workshop from Chinese>English. Other workshops include translation from French, German, Portuguese and Spanish into English, and from English into Italian. After a focus on localization business models in 2008, Localization World is casting a wider net in 2009 with a theme of Know-how for Global Success. This year they are offering four distinct tracks: Global Business Best Practices, Localization Core Competencies, Advanced Localization Management and Managing Global Websites. 
The theme of the Seventh International Conference of the Israel Translators Association is “Translation in the Global Village”. The program will cover a wide range of topics in the fields of translation, interpreting, localization, editing, subtitling, terminology, tools and new technologies. 
The Imperial College London has announced an 11-week e-learning program for professional translators. The new course on software and games localization is run in collaboration with the Humanities Department. The course is geared towards anyone wanting to further a career in the translation industry and is a useful step in becoming a software localizer.
The Globalization and Localization Association (GALA), California State University, Chico, Center for Regional and Continuing Education, and The Localization Institute have opened early enrollment for the Localization Certification Program and Localization Project Management Certification.
